My Work
Steve McCurry has influenced my work by challenging me to have a hidden meaning behind my images instead of just snapping photos at face value. Whenever I took an art class most of my work would be good but have no personal or universal meaning with it. Through researching Steve McCurry I hope to add a bit more heart into my art. My images are of the people that are important to me. I choose to back light the photos because to me it showed their inner beauty to me. I used the Rule of Thirds to show that my subjects are balanced in all aspects of life or are working towards that as a goal. My final images are some of my best photographs I've taken and like Steve McCurry's images they are of people of importance to me. However unlike Steve McCurry I am related to the subjects of my photos and therefore tend to exaggerate the quality of the image to make them look better so that people can see them how I see them and not how they may normally look. Steve McCurry also puts lots more thought into the planning and editing of his photos where as mine are more of in the moment photos with little to no set up and just a few edits to make my subjects more flattering.
